A Wintery Week

The past couple of days we have had quite a few snow flurries. Everything is white again, and it is cold!

Here is a picture of the outside of the cabin that I call home now. Because of the snow, you can't very easily tell where the land stops and the pond begins.

On Saturday, I stepped out onto the screened-in back porch to get something I was storing out there. When I turned to go back into the house, my heart sank to my toes. "No. Don't tell me ..." I grabbed the door knob and wiggled it. It was locked! I frantically reviewed my options - which was only one: run up to my uncle and aunt's house in my socks in the snow, and see if they had an extra key.

The ground was frozen solid and my feet were sore by the time I got up the hill to their house. Thankfully, my uncle was home. He didn't know immediately where an extra key was, but he had a few miscellaneous keys to try. If none of them worked, he would have to go get the key from my grandpa. The last key he tried opened the door! Feeling thankful, I trotted back down the frozen hill in my socks and promptly turned on a space heater to warm my poor feet.

There's nothing like warm boots and a good cup of tea in the winter. I've been enjoying a cup every morning on my way to teach piano lessons. Just to prove it, here is another picture of my {very photogenic} tea kettle!

This past week I crocheted a couple of hats for a soon-to-be-born baby. I love how the teddy bear one turned out!

And I saved the most exciting for last! Yesterday I got a car! The Lord provided exactly what I needed and just in time. The truck that I was borrowing had to be given back next week. Isn't God good?
